Official: Caf media director Suleiman Habuba resigns

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed the resignation of its media director Suleiman Habuba.

Habuba confirmed the news to Goal.com Ghana, explaining that he resigned way back in April, but took effect from this month. Due to his rich experience in media issues across the continent, he will be a communication consultant.
Goal.com Ghana broke the news on Monday, and it has now been confirmed officially by the football governing body of the continent.
“The news of our brother, friend Suleiman Habuba resignation at Caf as media Director comes to us and majority of Africa football lovers as a big shock and a great disappointment,” an email sent to selected media personalities from Caf stated..
It continued: “Mr. Habuba, during his nine years tenure in office, enormously enhanced the channel of communication between Africa media and Caf and this has resulted in a more positive appreciation of the rules and functions of Caf.
“In all our dealings with Suleiman, the media and football authority in Africa found him to be professional, understanding and sympathetic to our needs and demands.”
“Mr. Habuba will always be missed by all of us on the continent especially those of us who are so close to him,” it ended.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Secretary General, Essam Ahmed, has since been appointed acting Media Director.
