Connor sacked by Wolves

Posted on 12:42 PM by Unknown

Terry Connor has been sacked by Wolves - bringing an end to his 13-year association with the Championship club.
Terry Connor

Connor was initially retained as first team coach by manager Stale Solbakken when the Norwegian was chosen as the long-term replacement for Mick McCarthy..

But Wolves have terminated the 49-year-old's contract to allow fellow first team coach Johan Lange to become Solbakken's right-hand man at Molineux.
A Wolves statement confirmed the decision, saying: "Terry Connor's contract as assistant manager of Wolves has today been terminated with immediate effect.
"Terry has been at the club for 13 years working in a number of different roles during that time, including a stint as manager during the second half of the 2011/2012 season.
"He leaves Wolves with the very best wishes and thanks of everyone at the club.
"A fuller tribute to Terry's long-standing service to Wolves will be paid in due course."
Former Wolves winger Matt Jarvis, who moved to West Ham before transfer deadline, was one of the first to thank Connor for his unstinting work at the club.
Jarvis used his Twitter account to say: "TC left wolves.... A fantastic coach n helped me a lot progressing my career! I'm sure he will get a great job soon!"
Connor was controversially appointed interim manager by owner Steve Morgan, following the sacking of Mick McCarthy in February, but was unable to prevent the club from being relegated from the Premier League.
The loyal assistant to McCarthy made it clear he wanted the job full-time, following the drop into the Championship, but was overlooked in favour of former Cologne manager Solbakken.
It has taken two months for Solbakken to decide that Connor is surplus to requirements, now he has settled into life at Molineux and Lange will be his full-time assistant.
