Suarez Must apologise Or Will Never Play For The Club Again - Rodgers implores

Posted on 12:00 AM by Unknown
Premier League
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has told Luis Suarez that he needs to apologise to his team-mates and the Anfield faithful before he can play for the club again....

After a week that saw an increasingly irate Suarez accuse Rodgers of breaking promises over suggestions that he would be allowed to leave Liverpool this summer, the Uruguayan striker has been training on his own as his future remains under a cloud.
Now it appears Suarez has pushed his desire to leave Liverpool a little too far, with his manager going public to suggest his unsettled striker will need to make the next move if he is to resume his career at Anfield.
"There are a couple of things Luis can do and initially there will be a recognition that (there needs to be) an apology to his team-mates and the club," Rodgers told reporters in Dublin after his side’s 1-0 defeat against Celtic on Saturday.

"When we get that commitment back from him that he’s ready to fight as he always has done. Luis Suarez has fought tirelessly for this club from day one so when I see he’s not the same Luis Suarez I have to protect the fans and the players of this club because they deserve more than that.
"He has spent some days working on his own. The group has been separate to that and working very hard. When he returns from his international trip next week we will take it from there."
The latest twist in this increasingly fractious transfer battle appears to have placed another obstacle in the way of Suarez resuming his Liverpool career, yet it is clear that he hopes Rodgers' latest comments will be rendered meaningless if he gets a move away from the club in the next three weeks.
However, with Suarez's ambitions of a move to Arsenal now appearing forlorn after Liverpool owner John W Henry made it clear he would not sell his star player to the north London club at any price, the apology Reds boss Rodgers has called for from his star player may have to be forthcoming in the coming weeks.
